Presentation Title: "Wireless Technology for Security and Critical Mission Aplications, and Backhauling Aplications"

Description: Wireless mesh is a powerful concept that allows a brand new approach in the design and implementation of wireless CCTV systems. Mesh architecture has been studied for a long time in academia but only recently several applications of commercial mesh technology emerged. Mesh-based wireless video-surveillance systems are becoming very successful due to the incredible advantages that mesh topology offers in terms of flexibility and reliability compared to traditional point-to-point and point-to-multipoint solutions. In a mesh network every transmitter has “intelligent” transmission capabilities not present in traditional Wi-Fi or HiperLAN devices. Based on advanced mesh networking algorithms, every unit in a mesh network optimizes transmission through the optimal path, performing “intelligent” routing of packets in real time. The routing algorithm allows to identify low-quality links and route packets around obstacles and sources of interference. This presentation will explain the advantages of mesh architecture providing the basis to successfully design mesh-based wireless video-surveillance systems:

 

- Learn the advantages and capabilities of wireless mesh technology applied to video-surveillance and security applications

- Understand how to design a wireless video-over-IP system in different scenarios
