Pelco > Pelco – Special Education Students “Roll Out The Red Carpet” Seventh Annual Kids Day Event

Over 1,000 Fresno County special education students enjoyed a fun-filled day at the Seventh Annual Special Education Kids Day event on Friday, hosted by Pelco by Schneider Electric in cooperation with the Fresno County Office of Education.

“Schneider Electric stands in a league of its own when it comes to commitment to our students,” says Larry Powell, Fresno County Superintendent of Schools.  “Each year Fresno County Office of Education and Schneider Electric proudly join forces to provide this educational and entertaining experience for students with severe disabilities.  The employees truly give from their hearts to create a memorable and fun-filled day for all. Our families, our staff and our students join me in saying, Thank You!”

Jim Yovino, Deputy Superintendent, kicked off the “Roll Out The Red Carpet” Kids Day event followed by a performance of the Star Spangled Banner by Anthony Bugarin from Central ATP. Students enjoyed music, animals, and diverse activities, including face painting, a bounce house, a rock climbing wall, and much more! They met Marines and saw zoo animals, and experienced a variety of vehicles, including fire trucks, police vehicles, and a helicopter.

“Schneider Electric Kids Day provides an opportunity for students with special needs from throughout Fresno County to enjoy a multitude of hands-on activities in a fun-filled learning environment.  For our students with intense needs, it is sometimes a challenge for them to access their community.  Schneider Electric Kids Day makes it possible for our community and all of its rich resources to come to them for a day,” says Pat Sims, Fresno County Director of Special Education.

This is the seventh year special education students from Pre-K to 22 years of age, their parents, and staff were welcomed to enjoy an extraordinary day at the Schneider Electric campus in Clovis. It is a great educational experience for students with severe disabilities.

“This one-of-a-kind event provides a great experience for hundreds of special education students from Fresno County.  Through the support of all our volunteers and local agencies, we're able to continue with this tradition that is enjoyed by all,” says Julie DeBenedetto, Schneider Electric Facilities Regional Manager at Pelco.
