Fluidmesh Networks > Join Fluidmesh Aboard NY Waterway Ferry For Lunch Presentation On Its Mobility Solution That Keeps Ferries Safe and Ready to Rescue

Fluidmesh Networks invites ISC attendees to join them aboard the NY Waterway Ferry for a luncheon and live demonstration of Fluidity, Fluidmesh's Next Generation Mobile Connectivity solution. The event will be held on October 30th and includes a 45 minute ride on the Hudson River, an amazing live demonstration of Fluidity, lunch, beverages and a beautiful view of the New York City Skyline. It will celebrate the trailblazing success of the state-of-the-art wide-area wireless network and security solution that has helped NY Waterway improve communication, emergency response and preparedness throughout their fleet.

To accommodate as many guests as possible, there will be two luncheon tours given on the 30th. The first tour will leave at Noon; the second tour will leave at 1 p.m.  Guests are asked to arrive at Pier 79 twenty minutes before departure time. A short walk from the Javits Center, Pier 79 is conveniently located at 459 12th Avenue (and 39th Street). Pre-registration is mandatory, as space is limited. The NY Waterway is an essential source of redundant transit capacity in times of crisis, such as after the 1993 and 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and the regional blackout of August, 2003. In “The Miracle on the Hudson,” the most successful marine rescue in aviation history, NY Waterway ferries rescued 143 of the 155 people onboard when U.S. Airways Flight 1549 crash landed in the Hudson River in January, 2009.

Because the safety and security of passengers has always been its number one priority, NY Waterway enlisted the services of Fluidmesh Networks and PantaScene together with A.A. S. Technologies to help them design and deploy a state-of-the-art wide-area wireless network and security solution. Fluidmesh needed to design a network coverage area that encompassed almost the entire waterways surrounding Manhattan. This particular geography presents significant challenges for many RF (radio frequency) technologies.  Some of these challenges include water, ice, three major nearby airports, constantly changing sites lines (and Fresnel zones), all in one of the most densely populated cities in the country.

Thanks to a decade of experience in wireless networks and out-of-the-box thinking, Fluidmesh has been able to develop a revolutionary wireless system that delivers up to 100 Mbps of usable throughput up to 200 mph and fully supports video, voice, and data. With Fluidity, the NY Waterway was able to create a high-speed wireless network with connectivity to all ports and ferries anywhere they operate. The results are amazing, and will be detailed at this very informative and entertaining luncheon presentation. www.fluidmesh.com.
